•Gait of people with Multiple Sclerosis was assessed using wearable accelerometers.•Results were compared with patient-reported impact using the MSWS-12 scale.•Gait parameters were found correlated with MSWS-12 for most affected subjects.•Accelerometers represent a useful tool for assessing gait in a clinical setting.
