Podiatry impact on high-low amputation ratio characteristics: A 16-year retrospective study.

摘要
•The creation of a podiatry practice significantly reduces lower extremity amputation occurrences.•The use of the High:Low amputation ratio is an additional performance indicator of limb salvage.•Prior to podiatry the Hi-Lo ratio changed by −0.12%/year. With podiatry, the change was −0.36%/year.•Patient encounters for people with diabetes tripled at our institution during the years 2006–2015.•Podiatry accounted for 0.76% of all diabetic encounters in 2006 and 1.3% in 2015.
