摘要
•We have bred C57BL/6 mice carrying BALB/c breast cancer susceptibility genes.•The phenotype includes altered vitamin D / calcium / parathyroid hormone regulation.•Parathyroid hormone levels in serum were altered but 25(OH)D and calcium were not.•Reduced bone density demonstrates functional insufficiency of vitamin D / calcium.•Increased dietary calcium or vitamin D overcame the genetic differences.
