Handover Performance in Dense MmWave Cellular Networks

In this paper, we investigate the handover performance in dense mmWave cellular networks, where the BSs are equipped with narrow continuously arranged beams (CAB) and the sticky handover is considered, through the method of stochastic geometry. The trackable expressions of both intercell handover (ICH) and inter-beam handover (IBH) rate are derived, based on which, the average spectral efficiency (ASE) of users on the move is further analyzed. We find both ICH and IBH rate are proportional to user velocity and the square root of handover stickiness. And the numerical results suggest that the ASE can be effectively increased by choosing a reasonable handover stickiness.
