Time Synchronization Sequence with Weighted Conjugate Symmetry Property for FBMC-OQAM Systems

In this paper we consider the problem of time synchronization sequence design for filter bank multicarrier with offset quadrature amplitude modulation (FBMC-OQAM) systems. The subcarrier-filtering operation in FBMC-OQAM systems offers extremely low out-of-band radiations, but it also causes the symbols to overlap, which makes the synchronization sequence design difficult. We propose a new time synchronization sequence scheme which is applicable to the continuous FBM C-OQAM signals transmission scenarios and achieves high spectrum efficiency. Initially, we introduce a method to create a sequence with the property which we call weighted conjugate symmetry property for FBMC-OQAM signals. Furthermore, we give an example of the calculation method to make the training sequence similar to Zadoff-Chu sequence, and also three timing offset estimation algorithms are proposed. Finally, some simulation results are presented and show that the proposed method could achieve good performances in various channel cases. © 2018 IEEE.
