•Complexity INdex in SARComas remains a prognostic signature with next generation sequencing analysis.•Risk-group classifications are similar despite material and technological transfers.•We defined quality threshold to process formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) blocks with degraded RNA.•FFPE block RNAs above threshold are not a limiting material support for RNA-seq.
