mitochondrial SNPs (T4162C, C15452A, A14769G, C8932T) associated with race and BCR, and verified them by DNA sequencing in an independent set of 111 patients. Correlation analysis of biopsy and prostatectomy-derived RNAseq data indicates that the data from both sources are strongly correlated (correlation coefficient 1⁄4 0.873). CONCLUSIONS: Here we have identified a race-specific miR and mtDNA SNPs that predict recurrence in a race-specific manner. Finally, we have demonstrated the feasibility of performing this analysis on FFPE biopsy specimens and that results from biopsy correlate well with the results obtained from radical prostatectomy specimens. This study demonstrates that archived biopsy material may be used to generate patient-individualized and race specific predictors of prostate cancer progression.
