Pattern of carbon and nutrient cycling in a small Eucalyptus forest catchment, NSW

•Nutrient cycling was studied over 34years in a small catchment vegetated with eucalypt.•Differences in species nutrient concentrations were a key factor in nutrient cycling patterns.•In Eucalyptus forests the geochemical and bio-geochemical cycles appear to be independent.•The main changes were in increased nutrient accumulation within the vegetation.•Quantities of available P, Ca and K increased from reserves, increases in N cannot be explained.
