Effect of Malathion and Pfr-97 on Pea Aphid and Beneficial Arthropods in Alfalfa, 2014

Malathion and PFR-97 were evaluated for their effect on PA and beneficial arthropods in a commercial alfalfa field in Pecos County, TX. Plots, 10 × 40 ft, were arranged in an RCB design with four blocks and five treatments. Pesticide applications were made using a CO2 backpack sprayer calibrated to deliver 15 GPA @ 20 psi using Teejet TT11003 nozzles on a 4-ft boom with 19-in. spacing between the nozzles. One PFR-97 treatment was a single application. The other two PFR-97 treatments were applied twice; once immediately after pretreatment samples were taken and once immediately after the 11 DAT sample.
