Synthesis And Characterization Of New Phosphine Gold(I) Complexes: Au[(C6h5)(2)Pch2n(C6h5)(2)]X (X=Cl, I). Nmr And Electrochemical Solution Studies

Reaction of Au(NPm)(2)X (1) with an oxidizing agent such as copper dichloride or iodine yields Au(NPm)X [NPm = (C6H5)(2)PCH2N(C6H5)(2)]; compounds 2 (X = Cl) and 3 (X = I) were isolated as microcrystals and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, NMR and mass spectroscopy, and the mechanism of their formation was studied by P-31 NMR and electrochemical techniques.
