Determination of heavy-hole masses from zeeman splittings of excitons in GaAs quantum wells
JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY(2005)
摘要
We report magnetophoto luminescence investigations of singlet states of positively charged excitons (X-s(+)), singlet states of negatively charged excitons (X-s(-)), and 1s states of neutral excitons S (X-s(+)) in GaAs/AlGaAs quantum wells-with different well sizes. In the second-order effective-mass approximation, the heavy-hole in-plan e masses are determined from Zeeman splittings of the neutral and the charged exciton lines. We find that the heavy-hole effective masses increase with the magnetic field and that m(h)(+) > m(h)(-) > m(h)(o) at B > 3T(1)where m(h)(+) and m(h)(o) denote the heavy hole in-plane masses in the final single-particle state after a radiative recombination of X-s(+) and in the initial X-1(-) and X-1s states, respectively.
