Perceptions of flooring used in pre-school learning environments by location
Aatcc Review(2003)
摘要
This paper examines whether or not the climate of the location of a pre-school affects administrators' or teachers' perceptions of different floorings and its various features including carpet, hardwood, vinyl composite tile (VCT), and vinyl/linoleum. Data were collected from 273 administrators and teachers of pre-schools across the nation. Overall, carpet was the most popular flooring among respondents regardless of geographical locations. It appeared that those living in cold/dry regions were using carpet more than those in other regions. In addition, those living in hot/humid regions held significantly more negative perceptions than those living in other regions toward carpet and vinyl/linoleum in terms of their maintenance and air-quality related attributes.
