摘要
The bi Annual meeting of the International Society for the Study of Hypertension in Pregnancy (ISSHP) is an opportunity for countries to present original research into preeclampsia. The society meeting alternates between Europe, North America or the Rest of the World sites and provides an opportunity for work performed at multiple sites to be presented to an International audience. The aim of this project was to determine the number of countries represented at the last 4 meetings and to determine whether there was a correlation between oral and poster presentations from individual countries. The abstracts for all presentations at the 2008 (Washington USA), 2010 (Geneva Switzerland), 2012 (Melbourne Australia), and 2014 (New Orleans, USA) meetings were analysed according to country of origin of all authors listed. The presentations were coded as individual or multiple country authorship, and whether they were selected as poster or oral presentations. Over the past 4 meetings of the society, there have been 51 countries represented at the scientific meeting. The highest number represented at a single meeting was 47, in Geneva, Switzerland. Research with multiple countries as co-authors has decreased from 31% in 2008 to 14% in 2014 (Table 1). It is unknown whether this was due to judges selection or author preference. The ISSHP Scientific meeting has a strong international presence with 51 countries represented at the last 4 meetings. However, the presentation of collaborative research from multiple jurisdictions is declining and there is a disproportionate representation of poster presentations compared to oral presentations from some countries. The Society’s role in promoting collaborative international work needs to be factored into the planning of future meetings.
