•Androgen receptor (AR) was increased in EAM and primary located in macrophages.•ASC-J9, a enhancer of AR degradation, attenuated myocardial damage and inflammation in EAM.•ASC-J9 inhibit M1 macrophage polarization through SOCS1-STAT5 pathway in vitro.
