Metallogeny of the Chrome Ores of the Xerolivado-Skoumtsa Mine, Vourinos Ophiolite, Greece: Implications on the genesis of IPGE-bearing high-Cr chromitites within a heterogeneously depleted mantle section

•The banded structure of the studied chromitites is more likely a metamorphic feature.•These are high-Cr chromitites originating from boninitic melts.•Boninites were released from the mantle wedge beneath a forearc basin in a SSZ.•PGE-signature was inherited from a heterogeneously depleted mantle source.
