Effect of resonance dipole-dipole interaction on the infrared spectra of adsorbed CF 4 . Experimental investigation and theoretical modeling

摘要
•FTIR spectra of CF4 adsorbed on ZnO have been studied at 55–300 K.•The contour of the band of ν3 vibration is determined by strong RDD interaction in the layer of adsorbed molecules.•The shape of the ν3 band is complicated by ”Evans’ hole” at 1258cm−1.•Occupation of surface sites by CO or CO2 does not affect strongly the spectrum adsorbed CF4.•The calculated spectra for a close packed 2D layer of adsorbed CF4 well reproduce the splitting of the ν3 band.
