Using a Bayesian framework to account for advection in seven years of snowpack CO 2 fluxes in a mortality-impacted subalpine forest

•Wind-induced advection from snowpack poses challenges for winter forest CO2 budgets.•We developed a new method to calculate soil respiration from snowpack CO2 profiles.•Hourly snowpack fluxes are less variable over time than eddy covariance fluxes.•Wintertime soil respiration significantly increased after spruce beetle mortality.
