Abstract
Poplar is a deciduous tree from the Salicaceae family. Due to its high growth rate, poplar is considered an energetic crop. In this paper, the gasification of poplar was studied at laboratory scale. The process temperature and the equivalence ratio (ER) were varied to observe the influence of process parameters, and the transitory regime of poplar air gasification during start-up. The variation of gas components concentration during the process run was measured and analyzed. The gasification experiments were conducted using electrically heated batch tubular reactor with a cross current flow of air, at atmospheric pressure. The process temperature was varied between 650 degrees C and 850 degrees C, while the ER was varied between 0.25 and 0.35.
