摘要
Botanical extracts have efficacy against insect pests including stored grain pests through different mode of actions viz., toxic, antifeedant, repellent etc. In the present study insecticidal and repellent activity of extracts from seeds and tubers of Glory lily, Gloriosa superba was evaluated against adults and larvae of red rust flour beetle, Tribolium castaneum (Herbst). Maximum adult mortality was observed with seed hexane extract (oily portion) (GSS 1) (LC50 2.92% and 2.71% after 24 and 48 hr of treatment, respectively) whereas for larval stage tuber chloroform extract (GST 4) (LC50 2.97%) and tuber methanol extract (GST 2) (LC50 0.98%) gave maximum mortality after 24 and 48 hr after treatment, respectively. Seed methanol extract (GSS 3) exhibited highest repellency (66±9.91%) against adults whereas tuber chloroform extracts (GST 4) (66±7.92%) was the best in case of larvae.
