Assessment of genetic structuring in the Lygodium fern moths Austromusotima camptozonale and Neomusotima conspurcatalis in their native range: implications for biological control

•Two pyralid moths have been released in Florida to control Lygodium microphyllum.•Neomusotima conspurcatalis has established, Austromusotima camptozonale has not.•We assessed phylogeographic structuring in these moths within their native ranges.•Regional structuring was identified in N. conspurcatalis, but not A. camptozonale.•We discuss further host-testing and the general use of molecular tools in biological control.
