Moderate UV-A supplementation benefits tomato seed and seedling invigoration: a contribution to the use of UV in seed technology

•Ultraviolet radiation supplementation is emerging in tomato seed technology.•Tomato seeds/seedlings response was dependent on UV type/intensity and on cultivar.•UV-A accelerated/synchronized germination and increased biomass and cotyledon area.•Moderate UV-A/UV-B did not induce major oxidative disturbances in seedlings.•UV-A beneficial effects on seedlings growth and vigor support its use by producers.
