S25. Brain Activation of Fear Associated Learning During Early Post-Trauma Period

It has been proposed that deficits in fear-associated learning contribute to the development of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and chronic pain after a traumatic injury. A fear associated learning task (FALT) has revealed altered brain activations associated with fear and safety learning in patients with chronic PTSD and pain; however, FALT brain activations have never been studied in the early post-trauma period. Thus, possible links between FALT brain activation and symptoms of early post-trauma are still unknown. This study examined FCT brain activation within weeks after traumatic injury to investigate this issue.
