Isothermal oxidation of the Ti 2 AlC MAX phase coatings deposited by kerosene-fuelled HVOF spray

摘要
•100 μm Ti2AlC coating sprayed by kerosene-fueled HVOF was isothermally oxidized.•The coating’s morphology and crystalline structure remain stable up to 400 °C.•The coating peeled off at 600 °C with decreasing Ti2AlC wt% and detection of TiO2 and α-Al2O3.•The coating was adherent to Inconel substrate after oxidation at 800 °C and above.•A good temperature window for Ti2AlC is below 1000 °C and avoid direct oxidation at 600 °C.
