Corrosion behaviour of electrodeposited Zn-Cr alloy coatings

•Corrosion behaviour of electrodeposited Zn-Cr alloys in sulphate solutions.•The corrosion potential of the alloys is about 150 mV more positive than that of Zn.•Zn-Cr alloy coatings show low corrosion in the range of pH 4–12.•At pH < 4 the dissolution rate of the alloys increases and is higher than that of Zn.•The corrosion of the alloys is irregular.
