摘要

•In this experiment, pedestrians encountered a Wizard of Oz automated vehicle (AV).•Different AV conditions were used, including a “self-driving” sign and a driver reading a newspaper.•Interviews indicated that pedestrians took the signs and newspaper into account.•Pedestrians’ critical gap was not significantly affected by the AV conditions.
