Single-layer (1L) MoS2 on metallic and non-metallic substrates have different Raman spectral behaviors, which are attributed to substrate-induced p-type doping. Interestingly, the distinct photoluminescence is presented in 1L MoS2/water/mica. Because the intercalated water layer makes an electron-doped MoS2, the number of charged excitons (trions) increases compared to neutral excitons. Our results help to better understand exciton and trion behaviors for 1L MoS2 on various substrates.
