Cadmium Chloride-Assisted ZnO Nanorod Regrowth for Enhanced Photoluminescence and Ultraviolet Sensing Properties

In this study, we report the fabrication of sol-gel prepared ZnO nanorods through the use of vapor-confined face-to-face annealing (VC-FTFA) in which mica was inserted between two films, followed by annealing using the FTFA method. The near-band-edge emission intensity of the ZnO nanorods was enhanced by annealing using the VC-FTFA method and was increased by a factor of 83 compared to films annealed in open air at 500 degrees C. The photocurrents of the samples 1-3 were 3.79 x 10(-4), 1.32 x 10(-3), and 2.44 x 10(-3) A, respectively. Our method may provide a route toward the facile fabrication of ZnO nanorods.
