Investigation of the rotation speed on corrosion behavior of HP-13Cr stainless steel in the extremely aggressive oilfield environment by using the rotating cage test

•Flow decreased the dissolution-precipitation rate, deteriorated the stability and mechanical properties of the scale film.•Flow promoted the scale film to be brokendown and formed shallow-disk shape pits.•Flow accelerated uniform corrosion rate and the growth of the pitting both in the horizontal and vertical direction.
