Tensile behavior of polymer nanocomposite reinforced with graphene containing defects

•Tension of defective graphene/epoxy is studied for the first time via MD method.•The present MD model has been validated against experimental results.•Effects of various defect configurations have been extensively discussed.•The properties are insensitive to the defect distribution.•Single vacancies influence the properties more significantly than double vacancies.
