Saturable Absorption Properties of the SnS2/FTO Thin Film

Abstract
The nano-crystalline SnS2 layer thin film was fabricated on a fluorinated tin oxide (FTO) glass substrate by a chemical bath deposition method. The structural characteristics of the SnS2/FTO thin film were investigated by using scanning electron microscope and atomic force microscope. The Raman spectroscopy indicated that the SnS2/FTO thin film was successfully grown on the FTO glass substrate. The nonlinear absorption properties of the SnS2/FTO thin film were investigated using an open-aperture Z-scan technique. The experimental results show that the SnS2/FTO thin film exhibits a saturable absorption. Consequently, the SnS2/FTO thin film has great potential applications in optical devices such as mode-locked or Q-switched lasers.
