Preparation of phylloquinone-loaded poly(lactic acid)/hydroxyapatite core–shell particles and their drug release behavior

•Phylloquinone-loaded PLA/HAp core–shell particles were successfully fabricated.•The sizes of the 30mg phylloquinone-loaded particles were approximately 100–500nm in diameter.•Large amounts of phylloquinone (300mg per 40mg PLA) were dispersed in the aqueous solution.•The PLA/HAp core–shell particles released phylloquinone steadily and sustainably.
