Determination of insertion depth of flexible laryngeal mask airway in pediatric population—A prospective observational study
Journal of Clinical Anesthesia(2017)
Abstract
•Continuous monitoring of intracuff pressure during FLMA insertion is a useful alternative insertion method in cases where resistance is difficult to sense.•The FLMA insertion depth was correlated with several parameters, including age, height, weight, and sternal length. Among them, height and weight were found to show the best predictability for determining insertion depth (r2=0.777).•The insertion depth of FLMA can be calculated as follow: FLMA insertion depth (cm)=7.0+0.04×height (cm)+0.05 ×weight (kg).
