摘要
The incidence of Sphenophorus incurrens Gyllenhal (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) in commercial fields of sugarcane, Saccharum officinarum L. (Poaceae), in southeastern Mexico during the 2016/2017 harvest is reported. In this region in 2015 the presence of this weevil has been reported feeding on sugarcane and damaging complete plants. The incidence recorded was comparatively high in all locations evaluated, so this pest insect may spread to other regions of Mexico and cause significant crop loss in the future. Probably, the established populations in the region present more than one generation per year, and knowledge about the behavior of insect throughout the year poses additional problems.
