Application of bypass damping filter in suppressing subsynchronous resonance of multi-generator series-compensated systems

•The effectiveness of bypass damping filter on suppressing SSR is verified and extended in multi-generator series-compensated system.•A BDF parameter tuning method, which is of clear physical meaning and application convenience, is proposed for the multi-generator scenario.•The BDF helps improve torsional stability and suppress torque amplification for the majority of generators in a complex system.
