摘要

•Carbon-based films were deposited on thermally treated AISI 5115 substrates.•Sputtering deposition temperatures: 180 °C, 200 °C, and 250 °C.•The wear rate is low, between 2.42 × 10−8 mm3/N/m, and 5.01 × 10−8 mm3/N/m.•The higher deposition temperature negatively affects the hardness of the steel substrate.
