A Solution Processed Cdse Nano-Platelets Based Sensor For Cd Detection

In this work, an electrochemical sensor for cadmium sensing has been developed using functionalized CdSe nanoplatelets as the sensing layer to detect Cd in the solution phase. The nanoparticles are engineered to bond with gold electrode using thiol linkages to give a strong adhesion. The sensing layer can be spin-coated, or even inkjet-printed for facile integration in a multi-sensor array. Electrochemical Impedance spectroscopy is used as the initial study to check the sensitivity of the layer to the varying Cd concentration in the solution. The relationship between the change in the charge transfer resistance with the varying concentration shows an almost linear relationship and gives the detection limit of few ppm.
