Evaluation of accuracy of advanced traveler information and commuter behavior in a developing country

•Evaluates the accuracy of the information of the only publically available ATIS tool in a metropolis of a developing country by commuting 326 trips (2040 km trip lengths).•Introduces the concept of probe motorbike in addition to probe car (probe vehicle).•Traveller information provided by Google Live Traffic is 85% accurate for cars and 71% for motorbikes.•Average travel speed and road type have significant impact on the accuracy of the information.•Education, income, age, and occupation has significant impact on commuters behavior towards ATIS.
