Passive Cooling Techniques and Different Types of Insulation Materials for Residential Buildings

Passive cooling is an approach to providing thermal comfort by preventing heat from entering inside or removing heat from buildings with low or no energy consumption. The paper describes passive cooling techniques and their successful implementation made to accommodate energy savings in residential buildings by achieving living space thermal comfort. The review of various types of passive cooling techniques is based on practice-oriented projects or proposal-based works contributing to selection of different roof insulating materials, reflective coating, and cool paint. We discuss various solar passive cooling techniques with their positive and negative sides, limita-tions, and benefits.
