摘要

•A pyrosequencing method was applied to detect White Spot Syndrome Virus in shrimps.•This method was able to specifically detect WSSV in eight viruses.•The detection results were more sensitive than conventional PCR.•A new detection method for monitoring and controlling WSSV.
