Efficacy of Statin therapy in post-stroke seizure prophylaxis: Clues from an observational study of routine secondary prevention treatment.

•Statin therapy can reduce the risk of PSS, including ES, LS and PSE.•Intensive-dose statins may have more potent effects in lowering PSS risk.•The risk of PSE is significantly lower in patients with long-course statin therapy.•No significant association has been found between initial time of statin use and PSS risk.•ES is more likely to occur in males.
