Agroecological management improves ecosystem services in almond orchards within one year

•Delivery of ecosystem services can be enhanced in Mediterranean woody-crop systems through simple agroecological practices.•Compared with conventional tillage, adding compost was the practice that most improved ecosystem service delivery on the short term.•Nutrient cycling, habitat provisioning, carbon stock and food provisioning responded rapidly to the treatments, while pest control and pollination did not.
