Nitric Oxide Releasing Lipid Bilayer Tethered on Titanium and Its Effects on Vascular Cells

Surface-tethered lipid bilayer (tLB) membranes with incorporated lipophilic NO donor (10-nitrooleate) into the bilayer are coated on titanium to achieve controlled release of NO. In vitro study with vascular cells reveals the cellular species-dependent result demonstrating the selective effects of released NO and tLB membrane that is promotive for endothelial cells but suppressive for smooth muscle cells.
