High temperature solid-state synthesis of dopant-free Fe2Mo3O8 for lithium-ion batteries

A dopant-free Fe2Mo3O8 material has been successfully synthesized via high temperature solid-state reaction and characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, X-ray phototelectron spectra, scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope and energy dispersive spectroscopy. When the as-synthesized Fe2Mo3O8 material was evaluated as anode materials for lithium ion batteries, it exhibits high reversible capacities, remarkable cycle stability and excellent rate capabilities. Notably, the specific capacity of Fe2Mo3O8 is as high as 420 mAh g−1 after 100 charge-discharge cycles at 50 mA g−1 current density.
