Enable Device-Aware Flow Control with Enhanced Protocol-Oblivious Forwarding (POF)
2019 IEEE 9th International Conference on Electronics Information and Emergency Communication (ICEIEC)(2019)
摘要
As an extension and enhancement to OpenFlow, Protocol-Oblivious Forwarding (POF) removes the dependency on protocol specific configurations and can operate arbitrary fields of the packet header. Although powerful, when it comes to the situation where the process requires information of the device state, POF cannot obtain the real-time state due to the limit of the existing match field type (packet and metadata). In this paper, we propose the State Parameter Field (SPF), a new match field type of POF, to enable the device-aware flow control. Besides, to achieve a fast and efficient flow table lookup, we design the Direct Entry Matching (DEM) which is suitable for specific state checks. Moreover, as a novel use case of the device-aware flow control, we design and implement the time-based Per-Stream Filtering and Policing mechanism of Time-Sensitive Network (TSN) with the enhanced POF, and the experiment result shows the validity of the SPF and DEM.
