Effects of Moringa oleifera extracts and monensin on performance of growing rabbits

•Effects of moringa leaf and root ethanolic extracts (MLEE and MREE) on rabbit growth performance were compared to monensin.•Monensin, MLEE, and MREE treatments improved oxidative status of growing rabbits.•The MLEE and MREE treatments increased cellulose apparent digestibility and body nitrogen retention.•The lowest total volatile fatty acid concentration was observed for monensin, while the greatest was observed for MLEE.•Addition of MLEE and MRRE to drinking water (250 mg/L) of post-weaning rabbits can improve their growth performance.
