Cosmetic potentials of extracts and compounds from Zingiber cassumunar Roxb. rhizome

•This study firstly evaluated the cosmetic potentials of extracts and compounds from Zingiber cassumunar Roxb. rhizome.•The ethyl acetate and petroleum ether extracts were identified as active extracts by biological activity tests.•Six active compounds were isolated from ethyl acetate and petroleum ether extracts by bioassay-guided fractionation.•Five compounds showed significant anti-inflammatory activity and two among them were firstly reported in this study.•The promoting collagen secretion activities of compound 2 and 4 were firstly found in this study.
