The Pediatric American Pain Society Patient Outcomes Questionnaire (Pediatric APS-POQ): Development and Initial Psychometric Evaluation of a Brief and Comprehensive Measure of Pain and Pain Outcomes in Hospitalized Youth

•New measure of pain and pain outcomes is feasible to use in a pediatric hospital.•Reliability tests did not support subscales; items should be reviewed individually.•Six factors included recommended domains of the pediatric pain experience.•Differentiates between medical and surgical, and more and less satisfied patients.•Parent report provides a useful alternative or supplement to patient report.
