Ecological aspects of potential arbovirus vectors (Diptera: Culicidae) in an urban landscape of Southern Amazon, Brazil

•Mosquito abundance was higher in days of high temperature and low precipitation.•Abundance was higher in urban forest parks and in highly urbanized neighborhoods.•Most of the species found in Sinop are associated with arboviruses transmission.•Mosquitoes are reaching urbanized areas, probably adapting to the new habitats.•Results suggest Sinop region as a key area for surveillance of arbovirus vectors.
