•At 700 days, body weights of C3H mice exposed to 0.118 Gy increased.•At 700 days, C3H mice exposed to 0.118 Gy show increased body weights.•At 600 days, BALB/c mice exposed to 0.2 Gy do not show object recognition.•At 600 days, BALB/c mice exposed to 0.118 or 0.4 Gy do show object recognition.•At 600 days, C3H mice exposed to 0.4 Gy show increased measures of anxiety.
