Controlling hepatitis E virus in the pig production sector: Assessment of the technical and behavioural feasibility of on-farm risk mitigation strategies.

•An interview-based study was done to assess the feasibility of HEV on-farm control.•Farmers, advisors and veterinarians were all willing to participate in HEV control.•Lack of knowledge, scientific gaps, and inability to control HEV were barriers.•Family recognition, opportunity for higher quality standards would be motivators.•A cluster of potential leaders would help engage stakeholders in such a programme.
